OH WHALE & DEATH SURF
OH WHALE
Noisy, loud and daring. Oh Whale sends you from subtle and intimate moments to rough outbursts. Influences of Radiohead, Talking Heads and The National give Oh Whale their unique sound. Right when you’re starting to feel at ease, surrounded by soothing vocals, you’ll find yourself overrun by raging seas of reverb and distortion.
With elements of artrock, shoegaze, noise and indie pop, the band constantly experiments with distorted sounds and textures. Like whale noises, transformed into catchy songs and rough soundscapes. Oh Whale drags you straight into the waves, only to let you wash ashore in the end, relatively unscathed.
DEATH SURF
What if you combine the surf music of the 60s with modern guitar based music? Add a ton of wonky synths, distorted vocals and combine all into a new genre – that’s Death Surf. What shouldn’t go together will match par excellence
Don’t be mistaken tho, Death Surf is not your typical surf punk band. The band sounds punchy and well rounded, yet aggressive. Guitar sounds are chosen to not necessarily sound like a guitar, vocals are processed to oblivion yet clear, and the drums find their spot being punchy, driven and big.
